Calling Working Ferreters

As you will no doubt be starting to get ready for your next working season, can we please remind everyone who works their ferrets that it is your standards and practises that reflect on everyone else. Not just working ferreters but other individuals and organisations that involve themselves in Country Pursuits.

We regularly get calls from the public and other organisations to say that they have found nets and equipment abandoned in fields and what is more worrying, that ferrets are being left in the field or underground when they fail to surface.

Make sure you collect all your equipment. Missed nets can tangle other animals and leave them to a very painful death if they get to the point where they cannot move or get to water/food.

The use of ferrets as working animals is one we are 100% behind. We do not discriminate between working or companion ferrets; at the end of the day they are the same animal. All we ask is that you work to the highest possible standards you can and protect your personal interests, that of your animals and also that of your fellow ferreter.
